John D. Lambremont family papers, 1843-1978.

Early papers include legal documents pertaining to land sales in St. James Parish, La., and the succession of Nelson Paul Himel. Papers also include stock certificates (1911), land plats (1921, n.d.), and historical material relating to the history of St. James Parish, St. Michael Catholic Church in Convent, La., and St. Mary Chapel, Union, La. Correspondence includes a typed letter from Warren Dicharry, in which he describes teaching in China (March 19, 1949). Manuscript volumes consist of a record book (1883-1884), daybook pertaining to school events (1947), ledger (1917-1920), school notebook (1905) and scrapbooks (1872-1971). [Notebook and scrapbooks are available on microfilm]. Printed material comprises the majority of this collection. These items include leather postcards, newspaper clippings (in French), First Communion cards (1908), an advertising pamphlet (1918), pamphlets relating Louisiana citrus (1958), New Orleans (1948), and the Louisiana legislature (1960). Other printed items include a copy of THE STORY OF LOUISIANA by John Lambremont (n.d.), a biographical sketch of John D. Lambremont (Nov. 12, 1978), a bible (1899), collecting cards depicting young women (ca. 1914), a print of LE COUVENT DU SACRE COEUR (1974), and late 19th century U. S. currency. Among the photographs are copy prints of Nelson P. Himel (1875), P. M. Lambremont, St. Michael Church, Sacred Heart Convent, Convent, La., Uncle Sam Plantation house, and Jefferson College, Convent, La (1910, n.d.).
